CliSecure uses public/private key encryption to facilitate copy protection,  this technology is well suited to provide a robust link between the software application and the license key - preventing software piracy and enforcing authorized use of the software.

The signature for a license key is created by hashing the license with a one-way hash function and then signed with the private key component of a public/private key pair. The signature is verified by decrypting it with the public key component to expose the hash value and comparing the exposed hash value to a recomputed hash value. If the two hash values match the signature is valid.

Hardware Locking 

Enables locking of the software product to a designated machine. During execution the machine profile is compared with the one captured in the license file thus enabling the software vendor to limit the use of software to a particular machine or a set of machines.

Try Before You Buy

Enables software vendors to provide an evaluation version of their software. After the trial expires, the software no longer works. If the customer wants to continue to use the software, he needs to activate the evaluation version. No further software or updates need to be downloaded or installed.

Subscription

Enables software vendors to create subscription based licenses. The license is valid for an initial period, once it expires a renewal fee is collected and the licensee may use the software for another period.
